Another mass casualty shooting! Why?

As I am listening to live coverage of another mass shooting, I am sad, angry, and more than anything, I want to know why!  WHY?  Why is this happening?  Again?  Why is it so easy for this to keep happening?  To be clear, I don't want to know about more people arming themselves.  When I ask why it is so easy, I am referring to the complete disregard for life... people feeling so emboldened to just take another life and often, their own.  I understand that these are complicated questions and there isn't just one easy answer.  People aren't just bad or sick or religious zealots or racists.  Maybe they are all of these things... or a combination.  Isn't it time to try to understand?  Are we so desensitized that we don't care?  I understand that many don't to hear about the person who committed these murders.  Often, I have felt that if we give these killers all of the attention, more will follow.  Can we try to understand the person anonymously?  My opinion:  WE NEED TO FIX THIS!  We have to try to figure out how to stop this.  We need to teach empathy.
